Threes (3 Year Olds)

Tenacre Day Camp offers the best first-camp experience for your child in an exciting and nurturing program specifically designed for this unique preschool age! This program is for children 3 years of age and toilet trained by the start of camp. Children use our Pre-K Classrooms, elementary school facilities, playgrounds, and pools.

The Threes program is half-day, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Extended Afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. are available. If you want to enroll your three-year-old in Extended Afternoons, they must stay for Extended Afternoons at least three days a week. Families will be able to select which days work best for them during registration. Children staying for extended afternoons will have a rest period during the half-day dismissal.

This program encourages social interaction, creativity, and imagination within a safe, non-competitive, and caring environment. Half-day camp activities include instructional swimming, sports, arts and crafts, music, playground, nature, story time, and more.

Coed groups are led by Head Counselors with early childhood experience, along with a team of counselors who elect to work with younger campers. Our Director for the youngest groups is an education professional who has led the Threes and Fours group for the past few summers, ushering in a brand-new generation of Tenacre campers!

  • Swimming Lessons

We believe that swimming is an important life-saving skill and we continually get top marks for our swim program. THE THREES have a swim lesson each day.

The swim staff is entirely separate from the counselor staff, and all members of the swim staff hold Lifeguard Training (LGT) certification, and some hold Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.  On the first day of each session, the new campers are tested for their swimming ability, and at the end of each child's enrollment in camp, an evaluation of progress is sent home in the form of a swim report.
  • Theme Weeks

Each session we have a special theme and campers can dress up on the second Friday of the session if they choose.  Our "Fun Friday" activities are created around the session themes.
  • Counselor to Camper Ratio

The Three's program maintains a ratio of 1 counselor to every 4 children, plus an adult Activity Specialist.  Each group of 3-year-olds is led by a Lead Teacher that has early childhood experience.
  • Homebase Classroom

The Three's program has a designated home-base classroom that they meet in every morning. This classroom space is a familiar place for the Threes to change for swimming, eat snack, eat lunch, and have some of their activities.
