Steps to Apply

  • Step 1: Indicate Interest

    Indicate interest in our school by submitting a request for information with us through our website. This will automatically create a record for your family within our database.  Through this record, we will notify you of deadlines for application requirements and share with you any events that we will be holding to help you learn more about our incredible school community.
  • Step 2: Engage with Us

    Engage in a parent interview in person or via Zoom with our Director of Enrollment, Meg Burke, which can be scheduled by emailing Elizabeth O’Connell, Assistant Director of Enrollment. In-person interviews will be preceded by a tour of the school.  For interviews conducted via zoom, tours will be offered at alternate times.

    Admission appointments for parents applying to all grades are scheduled for 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday and for 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Friday, beginning in early October through late January. You should expect the in-person interview and tour to last about 1.5 hours and the Zoom interview to last about 45 minutes.   • Step 3: Online Application & Supporting Documents

    Complete Part 1 our online application prior to your parent interview. You do not need to complete the entire application at once. Part I of the application must be completed prior to your parent interview. Part II of the application must be completed by February 8, 2023. The $60 non-refundable application fee is due by February 8, 2023.

    For all Applicants, the AISNE recommendation form is due by February 8, 2023. For Grade 6 applicants, the Tenacre Teacher Checklist form is due by February 8, 2023. When you are logged into your online application account, please follow instructions to have the AISNE Form or 6th Grade Tenacre Checklist form sent directly to your child's teacher. It is recommended that you initiate sending the form by December to give your child's teacher enough time to complete the form by the due date of February 8, 2023.

    Submit the most recent school transcript you have for your child by sending it directly to Elizabeth O’Connell at by February 8, 2023.

    Applications received after February 8, 2023 will be considered as space allows. Please call the Admissions Office to discuss this process.
  • Step 4: Student Evaluations

    Information for Applicants to Pre-K and Kindergarten 
    Complete our Boston Area Virtual Evaluation (BAVE). The details of this evaluation will be discussed during the parent interview and instructions will be sent from our office via email. In addition to the BAVE, admission group visits for PK & K applicants will be scheduled in January.

    Information for Applicants in Grades 1-6
    Students applying to Grades 1-6 attend Admission Day on February 4, 2023, for a group screening. The morning will include assessment in reading, writing and mathematics, as well as classroom activities with homeroom teachers, a special subject class such as science or technology and games in the gym with our P.E. staff.

    If we are not able to hold Admission Day in person, the event will be held virtually with details shared in the middle of January.
  • Step 5: Financial Aid

    Tenacre is committed to assisting families of qualified applicants to achieve their goal of an independent school education for their child, whatever their financial situation.

    You may begin to fill out your Financial Aid application (PFS) online in early October. You only need to fill out one PFS, which will cover all the schools you may be applying to. Please visit our Financial Aid page for more information.

    Financial Aid applications and all required documents (copies of W-2 forms and completed 1040 tax forms) are due at both Tenacre and SSS by February 8, 2023.
  • Step 6: Final Checklist

    The application deadline for the 2023-34 year is February 8, 2023.

    For all applicants, please make sure we have the following by February 8:
    1. Online application, including Family Information (Part I) and the Parent-Guardian Questionnaire (Part II)
    2. Completed parent interview with Meg Burke
    3. Recent transcript/progress report

    For Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 applicants:

    1. The appropriate AISNE independent school evaluation form
    2. Appropriate student evaluation materials (see Step 4)

    For Grade 6 applicants, please include:

    1. Tenacre teacher checklist form
    2. Appropriate student evaluation materials (see Step 4)

    Decision letters will be sent to all applicant families electronically on Friday, March 10, 2023. Parents are asked to reply as soon as possible, but no later than April 10, 2023.
