  • Message to Parents - Coronavirus Update

    Updated May 28, 2020

    Dear Camp Families,
I hope you are staying well and keeping your spirits up.

Thank you for your patience  and understanding  as we work to determine the best path forward  for summer programming in light of the pandemic. The Governor of Massachusetts has said that camps can open in Phase 2, but the guidance is not yet available.

    Time Line for Decisions
We will send you an email next week with our update about running camp on-site.

What would on-site camp look like?
If we can safely reopen camp, there would be an updated health screening process and increased cleaning procedures.  Camp would look different this summer.  We would need to down-size the program so that each group has their own designated classroom space.  Because of this, we would only be able to accept campers entering 1st grade – 6th grade.  Activities would be adjusted (this includes swimming), and group sizes would be smaller.  There would be 8 campers with 2-3 counselors. Staff would wear face masks when feasible, and also it is possible that campers would also need to wear face masks when they can’t socially distance.  Groups would not mingle together.  Campers would bring their own nut-free lunch and snack. Aftercamp child care would not be available. If we do run camp on-site this summer, we understand that choosing to send your child is a highly personal decision  and we support whatever choice you feel is appropriate for your family.

All Weeks for 3 - 5 Year Olds
We take great pride in knowing that we build an environment where parents feel confident that their young children are engaged in programs that prioritize safety above everything else.  We have been tirelessly working to determine how we can safely host 3 – 5 year olds (entering Kindergarten) that meet the external and internal expectations of our programs. In consideration of the factors mentioned above and with a very heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all weeks of camp for 3 to 5 year olds.  If we can open camp, we will only be able to accommodate entering 1st– 6th graders.  Please know that this is a safety-based decision.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate these unprecedented challenges.  With summer quickly approaching, we are mindful that our families need to have a clear vision of what the camp season will look like. That vision needs to be communicated sooner rather than later so that each member of our community can make informed decisions about how to manage their unique individual situations.

With gratitude for our camp community,
    Libby, Barb, and Marcie

We are located in Wellesley, and the camp is situated in a friendly, caring, elementary school setting. The foundation of our success is the quality of our staff, a supportive and nurturing environment, and a welcoming place where each child belongs. The administration and staff strive to make every child feel comfortable and safe in a fun camp setting. Founded in 1973, the camp’s noncompetitive environment fosters self-esteem and individual accomplishments. We hope that your family will join our great camp this season!

In addition to our quality Day Camp for children ages 3-12, Tenacre also offers a variety of other ways your children will be enriched by offering June & August Swimming LessonsRising Star Sports, and One-Week Specialty Camps. A great way to end the summer is our Week 9 Day Camp!

2 Consecutive Weeks

Our 2 consecutive week requirement applies to these following camp weeks:
  • Regular Camp Weeks (July 6 - Aug 21)
  • Week 9 (August 24 - 28)

We offer flexibility to our families; campers sign up for any 2 consecutive weeks, and then can add any single weeks before and after the 2-week minimum is met. Your child can attend one of our Specialty Camps (full day option) to meet the 2 consecutive week requirement in the Day Camp program.

NOTE: Signing up for Rising Star Sports does not meet the requirement for 2 consecutive weeks in Day Camp.

Please e-mail or call the camp office telephone 781-235-3238.  We would love to show you our camp!
