Sixth graders encounter the Great Elephant Migration on Commonwealth Avenue

This morning, sixth graders traded the classroom for the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, where they explored the Great Elephant Migration, a public art installation of 100 life-sized Asian elephant sculptures handcrafted by Indigenous artisans in India from Lantana camara, an invasive plant threatening elephant habitats. The project raises awareness around coexistence, conservation, and habitat restoration. Moving through the exhibit in small groups with a chaperone, students worked through a series of guided questions designed to sharpen their observation and critical thinking skills. They regrouped afterward for a class-wide reflection.
