School Life

Tenacre Parents Association (TPA)

One of the unique aspects of Tenacre Country Day School has been the willingness of the parents to be involved in the Tenacre activities that support the school. The Tenacre Parents Association (TPA), which includes all parents and staff, was formed to assist in fundraising and in planning ways for Tenacre families to interact with the school and with each other. Its stated goal is to contribute to the school through service, social and financial endeavors.

The TPA meetings are held monthly to discuss issues of concern and to plan events. These meetings are announced in the weekly e-newsletter, Greenleaf, and are listed on the school calendar. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Interested parents are always needed and may volunteer their services, in whatever capacity, to any of the committees.

TPA Events

The TPA hosts a variety of events at Tenacre throughout the year. They can range from enrichment activities for students to social events for parents. Examples include:
  • Tenacre's Understanding Differences unit, in which the TPA brings in people with disabilities to talk about their everyday lives.
  • The Dads Camp-Out and Astronomy Night, when the entire student body (and their parents!) are invited to sleep under the stars on the Tenacre campus. Before eventually going to sleep, students and families pitch their tents, relax by a bonfire,  make s'mores, and listen to stories by the campfire
  • Pizza Bingo, a beloved winter event where the entire community gathers for--you guessed it--pizza and bingo!
  • The festive Holiday Cocktail Party for parents and staff
  • Pancake Breakfast on a Saturday morning
  • Orchardfest, a fair held on campus every spring--a highlight for many students!
Tenacre nurtures and challenges each child, every day.
