The Pool Director provides management to the physical operation of the camp’s pool facilities and equipment. The Pool Director meets daily with the Director of Summer Programs; participates in arrival and dismissal; oversees the Pool Deck during morning Instructional swim periods; supervises and evaluates pool staff; maintains staff attendance records; meets daily with pool staff for information sharing; handles parent issues or concerns; maintains log of pool incidents; participates in overall management of pool activities including staff training and pool maintenance. Evaluates camper’s swim levels and makes group assignments each week, making adjustments as needed. Supervises the distribution of swim reports for all departing campers.

Tenacre Day Camp maintains a pool staff of 12 - 16 Certified Lifeguards (LGT).

We believe that swimming is an important life-saving skill and we continually get top marks for our swim program. The Full Day Campers (entering K – 6th grade) have a swim lesson each morning, and the group lesson size is small.  The Full Day Campers also have a recreational swim time in the afternoon.  Most 3 and 4 year olds swim 1:1 with their lifeguard/swim instructor. The swim staff is entirely separate from the counseling staff, and all members of the swim staff hold Lifeguard Training (LGT) certification, and some hold Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. On the first day of each week, the new campers are tested for their swimming ability, and at the end of each child's enrollment in camp, an evaluation of progress is sent home in the form of a swim report.

THE FACILITY
The 2 outdoor, heated swimming pools are specially designed to provide the safest and best possible instructional settings. The first pool is approximately 50' x 25'.  It is a teaching pool (depth 3' to 3' 6'') for our younger age groups to learn how to swim. The second pool is 70' x 40' and it gradually slopes from 3' depth to 9' depth at the deepest portion.  This larger pool allows our older campers more room to practice their strokes, and refine their swimming skills.
