Students launch balloons into the blue sky

Fifth graders launched their hot air balloons this morning on Centennial Field, sending three-meter-tall creations of tissue paper, glue, string, and copper rings skyward to cheers from parents and classmates.
Built in science class, the balloons draw on a remarkable range of disciplines — metric measurement, proportions, density, buoyancy, convection, and engineering design — all realized in a single, soaring moment. It's one of the most beloved experiences at Tenacre, and it's easy to see why: there's something genuinely magical about watching a structure you built with your own hands lift off the ground.
