First Grade Entrepreneurs: Economics in Action

First graders recently completed an economics unit in which they learned about concepts such as goods, services, producers, consumers, supply and demand, and price fluctuations. They put their newly learned economics knowledge to use by creating their own businesses, developing business plans, and producing products or providing services. For the final part of the unit, students bought and sold goods from each other’s businesses. Students applied their math skills as they conducted transactions and made change using play money. This experiential learning unit proved both engaging and educational for Tenacre’s young entrepreneurs.
