First graders showcase their writing skills

This week showcased first-grade Author Parties, where students celebrated their writing projects alongside classmates and families. During these special gatherings, the young authors proudly shared their work by reading aloud and explaining key elements of their books to an engaged audience. The Author Parties serve as the capstone experience for the first-grade writing program, allowing students to spotlight the culmination of their hard work. Each first grader crafted a nonfiction chapter book focused on a topic that captured their interest and curiosity. Their books included a table of contents, introduction, chapters that explore their chosen subject, conclusion, glossary when appropriate, and a personal touch with a brief "About the Author" section. Through this process, students developed their writing skills and experienced the pride and satisfaction that comes with being published authors.
