Stuart Ablon update 1/25/17

January 25, 2017

Dear Tenacre Community,
Having shared the news of Chris Eliot’s retirement in June 2018, I am writing now to update you on the process of searching for the next Head of School of Tenacre Country Day.

Finding the next Head of School is likely the most important job of any Board of Trustees. Our Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that we have hired the search firm, RG 175 (http://www.rg175.com), to assist us with the process. The search will be led personally by Tom Olverson and Bob Henderson. Tom and Bob will be visiting Tenacre on February 21 and 22 to learn more about our jewel of a school and to interview administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students. and alums. Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for meeting times and places. You can find this and any of the latest information on the search process on our new Head of School Search page on the Tenacre website. I will also continue to keep you up to date with any important developments via emails such as this.

In consultation with RG 175, the Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees has assembled a talented Search Committee comprised of Trustees and staff representing different constituencies. I am honored to be asked to Co-Chair the Committee along with my fellow Trustee and Governance Committee member, Michele Norman.

The members of the Search Committee, selected by the Governance Committee are:
Stuart Ablon, Co-Chair, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Current and Past Parent
Michele Norman, Co-Chair, Trustee, Current and Past Parent
Lou Anne Collins, Assistant Head of School
Jeff Grogan, Trustee, Past Parent, Alumnus
Graham Masiiwa, Trustee, Current Parent
Jenny Carlson-Pietraszek, Trustee, Past Parent
Stephanie Price, Trustee, Current and Past Parent
Jenzi Reed, Pre-K Teacher
Peter Walter, Trustee, Current Parent

The Search Committee will be responsible for leading the search process and ultimately identifying a candidate to recommend to the Board of Trustees for its approval. This will only happen after an exhaustive, collaborative process which will actively engage and seek input from our entire community. Finalists will be on campus in September to meet with all constituents, and we anticipate having completed our search and hired our next Head of School by mid-October.

There are many more details to come. For now, we are eager to move forward enthusiastically with the search process formally and publicly. I thank the Governance Committee for all their hard work to date, and I look forward to all of your involvement during this very exciting time in the history of our jewel of a school.

Sincerely,

J. Stuart Ablon, Ph.D.
Chair, Board of Trustees
