1st graders learn about name-calling and put-downs

"The Crumpled Figure" lesson on name-calling and put-downs parallels our existing Responsive Classroom curriculum. “The Crumpled Figure” lesson has been adapted from "Preventing Prejudice," written by Hawthorne, Heins, Levey, and Massin. This lesson supports our daily social curriculum. It demonstrates the impact that hurtful words (stupid, dumb, hate, ugly) have on others and gives the children suggestions of positive words they can use with their peers.
Tenacre nurtures and challenges each child, every day.
