 | Annual giving is the cornerstone of Tenacre’s fundraising activities. Annual giving affects every aspect of Tenacre’s daily school life. It strengthens our academic program, it ensures that a student who would otherwise not be able to afford an independent school education to attend school here, and it supports our faculty and staff. Voluntary contributions to the Annual Fund are a necessary component of the school's budget and help to bridge the 10% gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating a child at Tenacre. The Annual Fund helps Tenacre live up to its mission to "nurture and challenge each child, every day."
Participation is a key value in the Tenacre community. For the last seven years, 100% of parents have contributed to the Annual Fund, while 100% of staff have contributed for the last five years. Gifts of all sizes are meaningful to the school, its students, and its staff.
The goal for Tenacre’s 2011-2012 Annual Fund is $510,000, which will provide close to 9% of the school’s operating budget. |

| Q. | What is the difference between the Annual Fund and a capital campaign? | | A. | The Annual Fund is every year, and it supports the annual operating budget. Annual Fund gifts support all aspects of the school, from faculty salaries and financial aid to facilities renewal and upkeep. The whole community participates in the Annual Fund year to year, including 100% of parents and 100% of faculty and staff!
A capital campaign, like the recently completed Endowing Excellence campaign, is a separate fundraising initiative for specific capital improvements, such as new and renovated facilities and/or endowment for faculty compensation and financial aid.
Tenacre would never want someone's consideration of a capital campaign gift to diminish his or her support of the Annual Fund. |
