Yesterday, Tenacre welcomed author Sarah Aronson for a full day of inspiration and storytelling craft. She kicked things off with an all-school assembly before leading a series of writing workshops that gave students a hands-on look at the creative process.
Aronson's path to writing for young people began with an unlikely nudge — a dare from someone in her exercise class. She took the challenge seriously, going on to earn an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts and building an impressive catalog of books for kids and teens. In March 2024, her dedication to the craft was recognized with the Prairie Writer Award for contributions to literature and literacy.
During her workshops, Aronson covered the full arc of what it means to be a writer — from finding your way into a story and pushing through early drafts, to embracing revision as where the real work happens. Perhaps most memorably, she encouraged students to see failure not as something to fear, but as an essential part of growing as a writer.
