Art Saturdays Fall 2018

ART SATURDAYS
Explore your creative side this November and learn about three unique artists. Each workshop will focus on a singular craftsman and consist of an educational section and a hands-on creative session. Third and fourth grade students will take home their own masterpiece based on the individual artist’s style and medium. The classes will be taught by Tenacre art teacher, Molly Curry.
  • Nov. 3: Wayne Thiebaud's Inspired Ice Cream Cones
  • Nov. 10: Claude Monet’s Landscapes
  • Nov. 17: Georgia O'Keeffe's Flowers
All classes will be held from 9:00–10:30 a.m. in Tenacre’s art studio.
Each class is $40; all three classes are $110.

Promoting a Healthy Body Image for Girls

TENACE & MOMS AS MENTORS COLLABORATE FOR WORKSHOP:
PROMOTING A HEALTHY BODY IMAGE FOR GIRLS

For: Moms (and caregivers) of girls (0 through 18)
Where: Tenacre School
When: Thursday, November 8, 6:45-7:45 pm

This interactive workshop will look at the prevalence, consequences and causes of negative body image for girls and then focus on practical ways to promote a healthy body image for the girls in your lives. This session is geared towards moms who have daughters up to age 18 but any adult caregiver of girls is welcome to attend. Participants will leave with take-home resources and tips to promote a healthy body image for girls.

This workshop will be led by Linda Lin, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at Emmanuel College. Linda is a clinical psychologist who has a special focus on health behaviors (e.g. eating disorders, obesity, exercise, smoking). Her research centers on body image and she is passionate about helping women fight a culture that objectifies them and uses beauty/thinness as a measure of women’s value.
