Fifth graders win accolades in statewide writing contest

Nine fifth graders at Tenacre School were honored for their essays in the 2021 Will McDonough Writing Contest. One Tenacre student earned first place, one earned second place, and seven earned honorable mention.

The Will McDonough Writing Contest, named in honor of the legendary Boston Globe sportswriter, takes place every year. In 2020, over 1,100 students from across New England participated in the contest. The winners are chosen by Globe Sports Editors. The contest is open to all students in grades 4 through 12.
Every member of the fifth-grade class at Tenacre submitted a 400-word essay to the contest as part of a class writing assignment.
Tenacre nurtures and challenges each child, every day.
