DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS The Director of Publications and Communications is a part-time (20 hours a week) position responsible for the school’s two major publications: The Orchard, Tenacre’s bulletin published twice yearly and mailed to the school’s 1,750 constituents, and The Termly, the school’s yearbook. The Director of Publications and Communications reports to the Director of Development.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages the production of the school’s bulletin, The Orchard, which includes planning the issue, writing, editing, designing the layout and providing the accompanying photography.
- Coordinates and produces the school yearbook, The Termly.
- Photographs all aspects of school life for the publications, end of year slide show and weekly postings on the school’s website.
- Acts as the liaison to the Historical Committee and assists in maintaining the archives.
- Oversees the Centennial Committee’s production of a commemorative book for the school’s centennial in 2010.
- Coordinates press releases.
- Assists the Head of School, Director of Development, and Adminstration with writing and editing.
Position Requirements:
- Excellent written, verbal and editing skills, with an attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to self-motivate, work independently and maintain focus while juggling multiple tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Quark and Excel; familiarity with fundraising software a plus.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
