Tenacre teachers believe that meaningful assessment provides teachers with the data to make informed choices about curriculum content and skill emphasis both for the group and individuals. Rather than simply ranking student achievement, assessments are viewed as a way of targeting student growth and guiding instruction.
In addition to ongoing assessments in the classrooms, at the end of units and throughout the learning process, school-wide assessments are given at regular intervals throughout the year in reading and math.
These regular assessments allow us to gather specific information about what students need to learn in order to reach benchmarks. Class data is used to set goals for mastery and to target instruction.
