|First graders perform class play|
First graders performed their class play this morning, “The Tale of Rabbit and Coyote.” The story begins with the Rabbit mischievously sneaking into the farmer's field and eating his chiles. The farmer tricks the rabbit and captures him, anticipating eating him. However, the farmer decides to trick a Coyote who passes by and the story follows the two as the Rabbit continuously tricks the naïve Coyote. This tale interweaves traditional stories, such as the tales of the Brer Rabbit and the story of the Coyote swallowing the moon. The story ends with the Rabbit hopping on to the moon and the coyote staring at it, howling from time to time in anger.
|Second graders love their annual Seafood banquet|
Second graders enjoyed their annual seafood banquet this afternoon, a culmination of their sea life unit. Each student is asked to invite a guest, with the whole group eating in the science room. This year, students sampled such items as clam chowder, sushi, shrimp cocktail, swordfish, crab cakes, calamari, and scallops. All of the seafood was followed by a giant cake--it was a great success!
