|Old MacDonald visits Tenacre|
Kindergartners performed their class play this morning, “E-I-E-I Oops!” This is an adorable version of Old MacDonald, in which the cow will not moo. The cow’s animal friends all do their best to help their pal moo – and in the end, they succeed!
|3rd graders make 3 Sister soup|
Third graders made Three Sister soup today in class as part of their Native American unit in social studies. The story of this soup has many versions in Native American history, but it basically tells how corns, beans, and squash (the three sisters) worked together as staples in the Native American diet. The beans grew up the corn stalks, and the squash provided shade for the soil. Water that caught on the corn stalks dripped down to keep the plants and soil irrigated. In class, students helped chop (with plastic knives!) beans and squash, and then added corn and broth to the crockpot. Later in the afternoon, students sampled their soup. The result? Delicious!
