Qualifications

Assistant Camp Directors are leaders, partnering with the Camp Office Staff to ensure happy campers and a happy staff.  Assistant Camp Directors support the smooth operation of camp by supervising staff, programs, campers, and more.
  • College graduate (over the age of 21)
  • Administrative experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working in a camp setting is preferred
JOB SUMMARY
Supervise campers, counselors and activities. Participate in arrival and dismissal; Meet bi-weekly before each new session with group staff. Organize and conduct staff meetings as needed. Communicate with staff through Morning Notes and in person throughout the day. Observe staff and camper interactions for each group. Provide excellent customer service to camp families. Contact parents to report concerns or issues regarding campers. Handle parent issues and concerns. Report regularly to Camp Director, both formally and informally. Meet daily with Director. Maintain staff and camper attendance and telephone logs, Evaluate Activity Heads and Counselor staff. Plan, implement and oversee behavior resolutions of campers. Participate in overall management of daily camp activities including staff training, arrivals, dismissals and attendance.

  • Manage up 50 - 70 staff members, ensuring quality leadership, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethics, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Structure and assist with 3 days of staff training in June for all staff.
  • Assist the Camp Office staff in pre-summer camp planning and organization.
  • Maintain clear and positive communication with all staff.
  • Monitor performance and correct staff performance when needed.

STAFF MEETINGS: At the conclusion of dismissal there will be a staff meeting each day. 


WORK HOURS: The work day begins at 7:30am. Assistant Directors may work until 4:30pm or 5:00pm each day, Monday - Friday. Depending on the day, longer hours might be needed. This position requires a strong work ethic.

SEASONAL
This is a seasonal position, and does not include health benefits or paid vacation. Camp Staff that have worked for 90 days are eligible for paid sick time.
