In Grade One Tenacre's reading program exposes students to a variety of authors, styles and subjects. First graders keep daily journals, author stories, as well as publish their own newspaper, The Tenacre Free Press. The math program stimulates students' reasoning and problem-solving skills as the quantitative, measuring and classifying aspects of mathematics are further developed. During the students' yearlong study of Mexico, they gain respect, curiosity and enthusiasm for the differences and similarities of another culture.
