Class Plays

Class plays are an important tradition at Tenacre. Throughout the year, students in grades PK-6 perform a play for classmates and parents.
In keeping with Tenacre's belief that elementary school is too early to identify stars, all students have roles in the performances. When commercial plays are adapted, lead roles are split among a number of students. With each class play, students gain confidence performing for an audience and become more comfortable speaking in public. In addition to speaking roles, plays often provide opportunities for creative expression through song and dance. Students also collaborate to create scenery in art class. Working together to perfect their performances, students learn valuable lessons about cooperation and teamwork.

Every May, Tenacre fifth and sixth graders perform a spring musical. The sixth graders take on the lead roles, and fifth graders play the supporting roles. Over the years, students have performed classics such as Peter Pan Jr., Aladdin Jr., Moana Jr., Newsies Jr., and High School Musical Jr.
