Tenacre is a small school with 199 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade and a staff of 60. There are two homeroom teachers for every homeroom, plus special subject teachers for science, Spanish, art, technology, library, music, and P.E. Tenacre also has learning specialists for reading and math. Tenacre employs its own facilities staff and work with FLIK Dining Services for meals. Supporting the operation of the school are the academic, admission, business and development offices.

Work Environment

Tenacre has a warm, friendly work environment. All staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, from community service projects with students to talking with the students about a hobby or trip during an assembly, or even attending "tadpole graduation" with the third grade in the spring! Everyone on the staff works to enhance the learning experience of the children from direct teaching, to maintaining the facilities, to providing a nutritious lunch each day.   • On-Call Per Diem Substitute Teachers

    Tenacre Country Day School is seeking On-Call Per Diem Substitute Teachers for the 2023-2024 school year. Tenacre’s mission is to nurture and challenge each child, every day. Everything we do is designed to enhance this all-important balance over a broad range of homeroom and special subjects, along with other activities.     Perks for On-Call Per Diem Substitute Teachers:
    • 2-hour (paid) onboarding orientation combined with ongoing training aimed at gaining exposure to all classrooms to better understand Tenacre’s student routines
    • $160/day ($20/hour)

    Qualifications:
    • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and enjoy working with children in Grades Pre-K to 6
    • Successful candidates will have some experience teaching, effective and respectful class management skills, be team-oriented, and possess flexibility and a strong work ethic 
    • Experience with Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Seesaw is helpful but not required as we will train the successful candidates.
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    Responsibilities:
    • Substitute teachers are expected to deliver lessons prepared by Tenacre Country Day School faculty, organize the classroom environment, and establish routines that support children’s learning. 
    • Additional duties will be assigned, including lunch/recess duty and dismissal duty.
    Short-term (1-3 hours/day) and all-day substitute teachers are needed. Tenacre offers highly competitive per diem rates, a flexible schedule, and a welcoming community. New college graduates are  encouraged to apply.
